Penn girls cross country team wins first-ever semi-state

Congratulations to the Penn girls' cross country team. The Kingsmen girls unseated No. 3 Carroll for the team title at the New Haven Semi-State on Saturday, October 25. This is Penn’s first-ever semi-state title. Penn placed five runners in the top 20 scorers for 42 points. No 3-ranked Carroll, which had won the last five semi-states, was second with 87, with Pendleton Heights (110) coming home third. Madison Woods was Penn's top finisher with a time of 18:05, as she placed second in the race.

Penn advances to the regional championship

Penn was victorious in the semifinal and championship games of the 4A volleyball sectional held on Saturday, October 25 bringing home Penn's seventh straight sectional championship. After needing five sets in the morning semifinal to take out Mishawaka, 3-2, Penn came back Saturday night and survived another five-setter, this time rallying for a 22-25, 25-16, 24-26, 25-14, 18-16 triumph over Plymouth. Penn's Alicia Wolff and Josephine Engdahl both recorded 25 assists in the game versus Plymouth. Rachel Hickey had 43 digs and Sarah Ross accumulated 29 kills in the same game.

Penn football team advances to sectional championship

The Kingsmen football team is geared up and ready for the second round/championship of sectional competition after its 43-7 rout at Portage in its Class 6-A sectional opener on Friday, October 24. The Kingsmen will take on Chesterton on Friday, October 31, at Chesterton. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Penn students traveled to Portage to cheer on the Kingsmen in the first-round of sectional competition.
